Penderyn Distillery is proud to announce that it has successfully passed a prestigious inspection conducted by the Worshipful Company of Distillers. The inspection, which took place at the end of July, was facilitated by the Worshipful Livery Company of Wales and marks a significant achievement for Penderyn distillery, celebrating it’s 25th anniversary this year.
The visit by the Worshipful Company of Distillers inspectors—historically bound by a Charter granted by King James II in 1867 that limits their geographical jurisdiction to within 30 miles of the City of London—was particularly noteworthy due to Penderyn’s location outside this traditional area in Wales. Despite this, the inspection team acknowledged Penderyn’s operations were “in accordance with the highest standards of distilling and making spirits and strong waters” and found “no cause for reproach whatsoever under the aforesaid rules, directions, and regulations.”
The distillery has been awarded a distinguished certificate commemorating this occasion, celebrating Penderyn’s excellence and adherence to traditional standards of spirit production. This recognition cements Penderyn’s reputation as a world-class Welsh distillery operating at the pinnacle of craftsmanship and quality.
Penderyn representatives expressed delight in hosting the inspectors and welcomed the acknowledgment from such a venerable institution. “To be recognised by the Worshipful Company of Distillers, particularly given their rich history and strict standards, is a tremendous honour,” said Neil Quigley, Director of Operations for Penderyn Distillery. “This certificate not only acknowledges the quality of our spirits but also reinforces our commitment to heritage, tradition, and innovation in distilling.”
