This whisky on the left has been double distilled, and then matured in Ex-Rye casks from Jack Daniels, and is one of only 2050 bottles. It is bottled at 50% abv. It costs £85 with free postage in the UK, and can be bought here.
Nose: Perfume of green apples, vanilla, honey, butterscotch and sweet seasonal winter spices.
Taste: Sweet spices with nutmeg, baked apples and citrus peel; some cinnamon spice, peppers and a hint of ginger.
Finish: A fleeting finish but sweet cereal notes linger.
This whisky on the right is matured in ex-bourbon cask and then transferred to a tawny port pipe. It is a ‘part single’ cask, and one of only 165 bottles. This was a Faraday still spirit from June 2013, and then transferred to a Tawny Port Pie in July 2015.It is bottled at 59.6% abv. It costs £120 with free postage in the UK, and can be bought here.
Nose: Salted caramel, black grapes initially, then plum and gooseberry jam notes emerge.
Taste: A sweet and juicy cornucopia of red fruits – raspberry, strawberry and cranberry.
Finish: Black grapes take us to the heart of a vineyard, and aromas and flavours of black fruits (cherry and blackcurrants) deliver a strong finish
