Penderyn present at Twinning of Llandudno and Champéry

On August 1st 2022 (Swiss National Day) the towns of Llandudno and Champéry in Switzerland were twinned. The rationale behind twinnings is usually cultural, economic cooperation.

A local Champéry resident named Ray Pritchard, who was originally from Llandudno, is a long-term expat there who has been harnessing support from us over the years. He was a former Welsh Masters ski champion, who runs Alpine Lifestyle Partners, and could see synergies between the two resorts. As Penderyn opened a distillery in Llandudno in May 2021, our director, Swiss-born Giancarlo (Gian) Bianchi, was present at the event. Gian talked to the Llandudno councillors and they hope to be able to offer opportunities for visiting Switzerland and undertake winter sports to disadvantages local children, that would not normally have the ability to fund such trips. Penderyn has been occasionally providing a bottle or two to support the social side of the Welsh youth skiing team that hold its annual competitions there.

Gian stood by the tasting table in the high street on a day talking to people about Penderyn, and joined them one evening for a traditional raclette dinner. Penderyn were there to support and meet several local people who are well behind the Penderyn brand in the area. A fun time was had by all.
