Penderyn's Age-Statement Collection Arrives: 12, 21 and 25 Year Old Welsh Single Malts Now in Customers' Hands

Twenty-six years after we distilled our first spirit, the wait for a fully matured age-statement collection is over. The 25 Year Old has already reached the customers who pre-ordered it, with the 12 and 21 Year Old joining it in bottle this summer, completing Penderyn's first structured ladder of aged Welsh single malt.

The 12 Year Old is the entry point into the range, and the most adventurous spirit Penderyn has released to date. A vibrant, layered dram that shows the distillery's distinctive Faraday still character at twelve years' maturation. The 21 Year Old sits at the range's midpoint, a study in deepened complexity and patient cask integration. And the 25 Year Old, Cask No. 1, drawn from a single Sherry butt and bottled at natural strength is limited to just 420 bottles at £1,200 RRP, the rarest expression Penderyn has ever put in a bottle.

Each one tells the same story from a different distance: what Penderyn's house style, shaped by the Faraday stills and the Welsh maturation climate, becomes given time.

That house style owes much to the late Dr Jim Swan, whose work on Penderyn's cask strategy in the distillery's early years still shapes every bottle it releases. Today, that legacy sits with Master Blender Aista Phillips, whose expertise has driven this collection from long-laid casks to finished release. It is the product of two decades of stock discipline, casks set aside since the earliest days at Penderyn, long before there was any certainty they would become what they are now.

"For more than twenty years we have been laying down casks with the belief that Welsh single malt deserves its place on the world stage," said Stephen Davies, CEO of Penderyn Distillery. "Releasing 12, 21 and 25 year old expressions is not just a landmark for Penderyn; it is a coming of age moment for Welsh whisky itself."

"The global trend is unmistakable. Consumers are trading up, exploring older whiskies and gravitating towards brands with the patience and discipline to invest in long-term maturation," Davies added. "By unveiling a structured series of 12, 21 and 25 year old Penderyn expressions, we are signalling that Wales can compete at the very highest level of aged single malt, while still offering something genuinely distinctive and rooted in our landscape and culture."

The collection lands alongside renewed investment across Penderyn's three Welsh homes, Penderyn in the Brecon Beacons, Llandudno, and Swansea Copperworks as the distillery brings more visitors into direct contact with the whisky itself, cask to glass.

It's a milestone two decades in the making: from a distillery once regarded as a curiosity to one now widely seen as the standard bearer for Welsh whisky on the world stage.

The 12, 21 and 25 Year Old are available now, with the 25 Year Old, Cask No. 1, strictly limited to 420 bottles.
